DiPinto Belvedere Standard Bass?!

[Don't Panic]

A new guitar shop has opened up near where i live, and they are selling products of brands I have never heard of.

The only basses they have on their website right now are Daisy Rock ( ) and these DiPinto 'Belvedere Standard' and 'Mach IV'. can anyone tell me anything about them at all?

DiPinto instruments are outstanding, and living in Philly near DiPinto's company shop and headquarters means I've played several. I've had a Belvedere Standard for almost four years. It's an amazing bass, with huge yet clear tone, and excellent construction and playbility. I've heard nothing else that sounds like it. My only gripe is the long reach to first position created by the short upper horn that doesn't reach the 12th fret. (Other basses, like G&L's ASAT, have this issue.) If you run a search, you'll probably find some of my posts, and I've reviewed it on Harmony-Central.com as well.

I'm not as fond of the Mach IV bass, which I think has the same pickups as the Belvedere, but in a solid body. I've only tried it a couple of times though, so I don't have strong convictions about it. Bass Player gave it a positive review a couple of years ago, and I'd like to spend more time with one. The Galaxie bass is a very cool take on the P-bass, but I think they make only the Los Straightjackets model now.

The Mach IV guitar, on the other hand, is great. One of my band's guitarists bought one a few weeks ago, and I considered one too. The bridge humbucker is actually two side-by-side single coils, and has more twang than a typical 'bucker. The more I hear, the more I like.

I had a belvedere standard that I had to sell. I was bummed, and I wish I had it back. Great simihollow for the money.

The second one is clearly a Mosrite ripoff...that's ok Mosrites are cool and these don't look too bad. BP reviewed one of these basses a while ago.

I bought the standard black belvedere 4 string used five years ago. The previous owner had taken the clear Plexiglas pick guard but di pinto helped me acquire a new one.

About the bass, the design and finish along with the craftsman ship is fantastic the hollow-body is well crafted. The sustain and lack of dead notes are excellent. The previous owner had removed the switch for the pick ups and implemented a blend knob. It has worked very well for me.

Now the pick ups are the stars here they are punchy but with a very well defined bottom end. They do not disappoint. Only thing i would re quest would be better quality pegs for the tuners. They are outstanding instruments for a semi pro and pro level. I play classic rock and worship music and it has fit the bill.

The company is well run and they respond with great enthusiasm and professional courtesy.

I have a DIPINTO Belvedere Deluxe and it one KILLER instrument.great tone sustain and playability. if you get one you will not be disapointed

I'm resurrecting this thread from December because I recently acquired a DiPinto Belvedere Standard. Fit and finish are very good, and I have to agree that the pickups on this bass are excellent. I don't recall ever having a bass that covers he range of tones any better than this one. It can go deep but is also very defined and punchy. I agree the reach to the first position is a bit of a stretch but that's going to be the case with any 34" scale hollow or semi-hollow that doesn't have a long upper horn. I've tried short scale and just couldn't get used to it, so I wanted a 34" scale.
Almost all of these I've seen are either black or gold, but I found this mahogany one and love it.

I had a standard. It sounded awesome. The strap button location made it uncomfortable to play.

The Belvedere and Dlx. are awesome basses. Everywhere from Vegas Mandalay Bay to skanky dives in L.A. my Belvedere Dlx. comes through every time. Definitely a keeper.

Check "Cash Up Front" my Johnny Cash cover band on facebook. For the last six years my DiPinto bass shines every time.
