Dirty Loops

I never disliked Dirty Loops, but I would never consider myself a fan before seeing them with Cory Wong on the YouseTubes in August.

I'm not sure how anybody can really NOT like this. I'm so happy for these guys. Their talent is without peer. I understand why Quincy Jones produced them.

If you didn't see this, see it. The whole thing.

I'm happy to see this happening in music today.

Bassist is Heinrich Linder. At one point, he was a presenter on SBL, but doesn't seem to be associated at this time.. Seems like a monster player, but I didn't care for his lessons - quite a bit over my skill level.

I'm liking this, thanks for sharing - gonna need to investigate these guys!

Hard for me to describe... They're definitely "good" and I'm glad that they're knocking out a living with their legit talent, but they don't quite hook me.

When I looked at a few different videos through the last year of two (didn't we all) showcasing different guitar heavies, I saw material from several of the phenoms like Joe Satriani and how they could perform unbelievable musical gymnastics. But I pretty much max'ed out on this sort of stuff after only 10-15 minutes. They didn't hook me either.

Then I found some stuff from Guthrie Govan that was sometimes blistering and mind-bending, but to my ear it was also very musical and dynamic - not trying to blow me away at least once every couple of bars.

I'm going to dig around and see if some of the material from Dirty Loops has that dynamic that builds a groove or some sort of idea and then goes BOOM in the chorus. Their songs seem to want to explode right out of the gate and just keep on flying. That gets sort of exhausting for my musical attention span.

But they're definitely good!!
