Of course he's a good kid, and props to him for being an emerging musician. I'm sure Tommy's tough enough to handle a little TB kidding. If any of it's meant in anything but a joking way, it shouldn't be. We're all just a bunch of guys (and girls) who like the low stuff and having fun (sometimes at each other's expense).

I've only been around here for a year, but it seems that jungle rules apply: If you're gonna run with the big dogs, you gotta be able to piss in the tall grass. Tommy is just fine.

In all honesty this is a pretty milquetoast forum as far as politeness and "flaming" go.

Check out the TGR forum if you want to see jungle rules. It's a pretty hardcore skiing forum and is completely unmoderated.

Well I just called warmoth to ask about my fenderbird project. So, I wanted to make it neck through so it would be more like a Thunderbird. Another thing I wanted to do was roman numeral inlays.

The guy said they do not do NT or custom inlays on bass... Man that was almost my whole project!!!

To the OP:
Just buy a Thunderbird if you really want a neck thru.
A FenderBird is the combination of a Gibson (or custom ) body and pickups + a Fender neck bolted on.

I know... I like the feel of a thunderbird and the feel of a pbass neck but after playing a epi tbird I don't think I'd like bolt on on a tbird... that is why I wanted to do this!

Well the reason I called was to find out... No where on their site does it say "We do not do neck through" and it even does talk about that they do custom inlays but when I called the guy said they don't do em on bass. No where on the site did it say "we do not do custom inlays on bass."

I feel kinda lost about how we can not directly call someone dumb , yet we can indirectly call somone dumb for 3 pages.

I mean read some of these responses its just an indirect way of calling someone dumb like there beneath you, and than the thread is allowed to continue and flame the person?I mean there really are some smirk responses.

Take it easy, its all in good fun. Look, if you put yourself out a certain way, be prepared to get called on it. Tommy is a young guy, he is going to get picked on for his youthful doings by old curmudgeons. Thats life no matter where you are. Anyone who outright called him stupid is breaking rules and just being a jerk for no reason. Why let it bother you? If its so pathetic (which I agree, it is), then it's not worth letting it piss on your shoes.

Defending ignorance is one thing. Using the search button is another. Posting a thread about something after you've called and talked to the company, then trashing them and asking for support? That's another thing entirely.

Some it's easy to forget that Talkbass has members from everywhere. We're not an entity that exists in a vacuum. There are a lot of musicians, business owners, bass builders, and people from all over that read this forum. It's just best to be careful who you might offend. This isn't a children's playground.
