Distortion pedal

I am new to effects and I wonder if a quite cheap distortion pedal like a
BOSS ODB3 Bass Overdrive pedal would improve the sound coming out of my ebs session 30 amp?

Improve is a very subjective word! It will change the sound for sure, but you may or may not like it. Check some reviews on youtube to give you an idea of what you can expect, or see if someone you know as one that you can try

The ODB-3 is not one of the best Distortion pedals even for short money. There are better pedals for same money that are far better IMHO

I got a cool effect for a song using my old one, but for the most part I agree with you. And there is nothing amp like about it, unless you have a modded one or your amp has really bad “overdrive”.

I have a Joyo Ultimate Drive which is similar to an OCD, and I like the tones it gives me. And it's a lot cheaper!

Simple answer is no it would not. You have a small Bass combo Amp and it is only capable of so much before it self destructs. So if you are looking for more lows or louder you just can't get it out of that box. Now if you just want more tone shaping then an MXR M-81 might be the answer.
