i just bought a Boss BD-2 but im not realy happy with the sound.

im playing an Epiphone les paul with a line6 amp.

does anyone know a few good distortion pedals?
one that also sounds great with lower frequenties.

i saw the mod-list for the Boss BD-2 but that a hell of a job to do

If you want a boss-type distortion, there's the penny pedals ds-1 bass mod distortion pedal. like the name says, it's a boss ds-1 mod design for bass. here's the link to hear sound samples of the pedal.

Distortion/OD/Fuzz, generically known as "dirt" pedals, is arguably the most popular subject here. There's a pedalboard-load of threads, all better than the previous one, so a bit of search will help. AS for suggestions, the Ibanez PD-7 and Digitech Bass Driver are probably good pedals to start out with. The Bass Driver offers a wider tonal palette.

is it possible that its still a good pedal?

there's no doubt that there is a big discusion going on about which pedal is the best, everyone got their own taste of what they like or not.

only thing i know for sure is that i want to use it for rock/hardrock music.

For a more articulate distorted sound you may check the ones with a blend knob.

Aguilar agro is my frequent go to, Sounds fantastic on bass. Anything from fuzzrociouspedals.com (I have the dark driving), I intend on getting their rat tail eventually. Huuuuge thread on their pedals with lots of info! But like anything its got to sound good to you!

Hardwire CM-2 is impossible to beat for the price if you want a nice grinding, tube like overdrive with zero bottom end loss. In fact, it can ADD some bottom end.

That's a fuzz pedal, though.

Fuzz, OD, distortion - all refer to clipping the signal. Do it a lot, you get Fuzz. Do it a little less, you get Distortion. Do it a small amount, you get Overdrive. Ask another person, you get a completely different description.

For distortion you can always go with a good old Boss ODB-3... It's a Boss pedal with construction qualities...and a different flavor from the Hardwire pedals.

If you feel like splurging a bit, send your Blues Driver to Robert Keeley and have him do the Freak mod and the Phat mod. You get a much cleaner I/O overall, and it opens up the bottom end quite nicely. I just pulled mine from the back of the shelf, and was reminded of how much I like it.

just one more question, whats the difference between the hardwire cm-2 and the hardwire TL-2.

saw the TL-2 in a local music store. i want to go by this week for testing

I want that kind of sound like you hear in danko jones - lovercall. Plus i want to have the abillity to get even heavier sound.

can someone tell me what the difference is between a tube overdrive, valve distortion and metal distortion? perhaps depth in sound?
