DNA Replacement 10" Driver

@Rip Van Dan is helping me out with contacting Mr. Nordscow. Hopefully he has a suggestion for a suitable replacement as OEM might be out of the picture. I've been looking at FaitalPro and they have many options. I don't even know where to start in choosing the right parameters. I'm not too concerned about the weight of the driver as it's only a 110 cabinet. I own 2 DNS 410's and bought the 110 to have a similar tone for home practice. I’m guessing you are already doing it, but my course of action if it were necessary was to get on the faital website with the cab information (dimensions etc) and start looking up possibilities and then writing/calling them with questions to follow.

Can you post a picture of the speaker? We can at least tell if it’s made by eminence and if it is, they can suggest one of their drivers that will work.

Something like this might work, at first glance. Don't look at the port air speed, since I don't know the port dimensions. Now, "works" and "sounds good" and "sounds like the original" are different things. Does this speaker have a horn and crossover?

Wow, that driver had the living piss driven out of it by a way to large amp.

I recognize the OEM manufacturer but can't recall their name.

If you can't get the original replacement, I would recommend calculating something that will work rather than guessing. The important information is the internal cabinet volume and the port diameter + length.

It was not I who blew this speaker. I bought it used and technically have 45 days to return it. I play the DNA 410 cabs for live shows and band rehearsals and really love the tone and clarity at high volume. I found this cab at GC in Modesto CA and picked it up so I can have similar tone characteristics while practicing at home. I realize that returning it is probably the smartest option but these cabs are hard to find and I really want to keep it if I can get it working. Having a smaller version of my live rig is important to me as far as adjusting pedal and amp settings and not having unpleasant surprises in the middle of a live performance.

I really recommend returning it, replacing with an aftermarket driver won’t be the same and it won’t be what you paid for. Assuming they don’t void the warranty because it’s obvious something additional happened to the dust cap.

I don’t think you can extrapolate from one rig and apply the same settings to a different rig and location, even when the equipment is from the same manufacturer.
As an example, the Mesa Subway 112 and 115 are designed to play together nicely (and they succeed brilliantly). But I wouldn’t EQ the same if I were using each as a standalone, even though they would be close.
I’d also advise returning it, as I’m not a fan of shucking out cash for defective gear.

Maybe get them to at least refund enough cash to help off set your time doing some reverse engineering and buying another speaker.

So..7 months later, I will now be receiving a replacement 10" driver from Mr. Nordschow. I ended up paying $100 for the cabinet from GC which I thought was fair. The new driver cost a lot less than I anticipated, I do mean a LOT less!
In the meantime I pulled a 16ohm driver from one of my DNS 410 cabs just to hear this cab in action. I'm guessing my Crest Pro 7200 is putting out 300 watts at 16ohms. The volume is surprising loud and sounds like it's being driven as hard as it needs to. It's about equal to my Hartke HD 508 maybe louder, but goes way lower and higher. I'm excited to put the proper driver in place and put my 410 back together. Thanks again for everyone's help..if anyone reads this...Ryan

300 watts RMS into a single 10" driver like that is a recipe for continuing problems IME.

300 watts RMS into 2 10" would have me with one ear glued to the speaker cab and hoping ours or the venues FOH could do some heavy lifting.

I could definitely push the speaker to it's limit. My amp was wide open, adjusting volume with input gain on TD1. With pad engaged I could set preamp gain at about 11 o'clock and stay clean. Anything close to noon would push the speaker too hard. The new driver will be 8ohms so will need to be even more careful with 600 watts. I also drove the 110 with my mpulse venture combo slave out into Crest and was very pleased. The best sound so far through my DNS 410 cabs has been the Mesa Carbine. This little 110 is very impressive. Played a Euphonic Audio 110 back in the day and is the only thing I can compare this to really.

Crest Pro 7200 is my only portable amplifier right now. I also have a Mesa Venture combo but that stays at home due to the weight. I will use this 110 for personal practice at home, not for live gigs.
