If the question is about a topic that's been discussed many times, then a polite suggestion to use the search function (with maybe some advice about key words to include or how to make the search more selective) is a good way to respond.

Just posting "DO A SEARCH, NOOB!!! This topic has been done to death!" doesn't really help much.

Exactly ... the problem isn't the suggestion to do a search, the problem is when someone yells (uses caps) at someone in a rude way to do one and is nasty. :spit:

The other problem with it is when you do a search, the thread dosn't answer your question, you ask your question in it, and then the guys who shout DO A SEARCH! come on and complain about reviving dead threads!

well, it does take up a lot of bandwidth when there are 5 'what's so great about boutique/sadowsky/sx basses' threads that pop up every week.
of course, it takes up bandwidth when 10 people yell 'do a search; as well....maybe if just one person posted a link to the already active thread...i dunno, we're all weird. :)

me, i always do a search. and i usually put a disclaimer at the end of my post, so if anyone wants to direct me to a link with the same topic, then cool.
