do all 5 strings have a thin neck?

So I had a Dave Ellfson custom shop sign 5 string and the neck was very thin. For speed I would assume. I just got a peavey USA cirrus and again seems like a thin neck. Are there any 5 strings espically neck through that have a good chunky neck, or at least not paper thin. Don't care if they are mass market or boutique.

No. But in my case I like my 5 thinner for reach. My favorite 4 string basses are all 63 C style, not a bat but pretty thick. But the thinner 5 is easier to maintain the same range of motion. YMMV

Try a Schecter Stage-5. Wonderful neck! Downside for me though, was the string spacing and the headstock always made me feel like I should be in a KISS cover band. It’s a neck-through and the pickups and hardware are pretty good, too.

Oh yes they do, G&L and Spector especially. I once played a G&L Jazz Bass from 2006 and holy moly was that a thick neck. I loved that thing.

Oh my, no.

I play mainly Stingray 5 and those necks are huge. They're not for everybody, my hands are somewhat oddly shaped. They've never got in my way and feel like home like no other basses.

My Ibanez 5 strings have incredibly thin "fast" necks

Yes. I had a circa yr 2000 5 string Thumb Bolt-on that had a huge U shaped neck. Biggest neck profile I've ever seen, and surprisingly comfy. Apart from the neck dive it caused.

EDIT: after a quick look, it appears they used this thick profile from the late nineties up to around 2009, so this is the decade to look for if you want a thick neck.

Try a Dean Edge-1 five. As I remember, it had a fairly thick and very stable neck neck. In the year and a half I had it, I never once had to adjust the truss, and I was using D'Addario Light Gauge chromes.

My fender 2010 precision v has a huge neck while my Sire p7 has a rather thin jazz type neck.
