do i need a preamp, or compressor with EURORACK UB2442FX-PRO

i am using a EURORACK UB2442FX-PRO.
I would like to know your guys' opinion on wether or not i need to get a pre-amp or compressor/gate for this unit when im doing home recordings. ive noticed a "far away" sound quite often and the sound isnt very thick. would either of these help? if so which ones? the most tracks i record at once is 4.
