Do people not like Acoustic amps.

I'm considering an Acoustic B200h amp with a matching 1x15 cab for sale on my local CL. Did a search on TB and found very few threads on Acoustic amps. I realize they may not be as popular as Hartke or Gallien Krueger. Do people just not like Acoustic.

They are inexpensive GC house brand amps. They are not terrible, but they are not fantastic either. They can work for a lot of players, but once budget/tonal goals increase they will be passed on.

They are good for the money. I got a B410 for about $100 and feel it was worth every penny of that. As long as you understand that its not going to sound quite as good as a higher end cab and probably won't survive a fall out of a truck then its worth it.

Entry level gear, made by another company (IIRC - Kustom), re-badged as "Acoustic" when really it is "Acoustic" in name only - nothing to do with the original Acoustic Control Corp amps/cabs.

I must say, I had a chance to try their newest line of amps, as well as the NEO cabs, and it sounded quite nice. I'm not into that clean of a tone, but I do think the disdain towards the line has been undeserved. We, as bass players, must be pretty lucky to live in a time when even "commodity-grade" gear could be gigged to positive effect :D

I have yet to play on one that sounds anywhere near as good as anything made by Eden or Ampeg.

That being said, I know they did a reissue of the JPJ era 360/361 ones recently. I'd love to try one, but man that price tag is brutal! 5k list.

I play through a Acoustic B200h and two B115s. My opinion? The heads are solid pieces of kit (if heavy), louder than their rated wattage, good sounding if clean thump is what you're looking for. I like the EQ, and the notch filter is a useful thing.

The cabs on the other hand are not the best sounding, and are heavy and not very durable. They'll work, but there are better options for the money.

What's nice is that they're readily available to try out. I like them for what they are, but would not tour with one. I know what a road worthy amp is - these are resonably priced, easy to use practice-room and local-gig worthy amps, IMO, and sound pretty good in that application.

Bear in mind that a lot of the opinion you may get here seems to be somewhat influenced by the fact that GC owns the brand (and people love to hate GC) and that they are not 'real' vintage Acoustics (which doesn't matter). I even read repeated Acoustic-hate posts by one TBer who seemed enraged that these are identical to/built by Kustom (again, who cares?).

Stick to the combos, too.
