Do pick ups lose "Tone" over time?

Hi there, Just a simple question

Do JAZZ bass pickups on a road worn bass(a fender limited edition series) ever lose its tone or high frequencies over time?

I ask this because of an older mexican jazz bass i had, lost a lot of its tone over time i believe until i had the pickups changed

yeah, but very slowly.

in most cases, 50-year old fender pickups are considered "vintage" and are sought after because they sound better, not worse.

As the other guys have mentioned, it will change over time, but very very (very) slowly.

Time for some new strings?
