Do These Flatwounds Actually Exist?

I've been looking for these flats that are encased in a semi transparent black or dark brown plastic "tubing" or coating. They are super stiff and have tons of thump to them. I ve only seen them twice in my life and one guy told me they were rotosounds but they dont seem to make them. Just to be clear, these are NOT tape wounds....these are regular metal flats with a kind of thick plastic on them. I ask everyone I talk to but most ppl look at me like I'm crazy.

Those strings sure look like my tapewounds to me.

Aren't the trubass just nylon tapewounds? What I'm looking for is much much stiffer than tapewounds or even regular flats......theyre barely playable but they have a real forcefull sound.

I'm almost thinking that I would be better off trying to mod a regular set of flats with some heat shrink tubing.

All the heat shrink tubing I've seen seems like it would be too thick for that purpose, but it'd still be an interesting experiment.

Yes, but the Trubass has a hard coating, the stiffness sounds a little off what you describe though (Trubass arent that stiff).

What brands of tapes have you tried?
So. Trubass are stiffer than other tapewounds?

I'm still thinking those aren't the ones. But I play tape mostly so I'll give them a try.
I cant really compare them to others, as the last time I tried Labellas was ages ago :hmm:.

However the Trubass strings are flats, whereas I think the others are rounds under the tape (Fenders definitley are)
