Double Bass Do you ever get that feeling...

You're making me sad.

I've been out working during the day the past three days and when I'm back, somebody always has a TV going or is making some loud, obnoxious noise.

Not to mention my bow isn't back from rehairing, and the bow my teacher lent me is French. :(

And I've got some vicious blood blisters on my right hand...

But yes, I do know what you're talking about. I think as bassists, we all have an idea of what perfect is inside our minds--whether that emulates someone else or it's of our own creation. And this concept of perfection is something we all want to achieve, so practicing allows you to materialize a step closer to that perfection. Some steps may be a lot longer and harder to take, but I'm sure it's worth it in the end.

+1 on the peak/plateau comment.

Ska-good time to do a recital in about a month. Only way to know if the 2-3 hours is productive. Then back off a bit. Play at your school, church etc. Does not have to be long. Ride the wave.

I just transferred to a performing arts high school and I get to play in and orchestra setting and practice 10x more. I get a hour and a half a day to practice during school, and then I can stay until 10 pm xD I've run into some problems with tendonitis, but it is still amazing. best decision I've ever made.
