Am I alone?
I just want to find one great bass, unlikely
Yes, you are alone! Just want that one bass to go with that one kind of music you'll be playing for the rest of your life, no?
I've still got my first Kingston Japanese clone bass. Actually my FIRST bass was an upright and I'm SO sorry I got rid of it. Traded it for a saxophone. Stupid. I do know the dood who has it though so it's not like it's completely out of my life.
And that's the story. Every time I think I don't need something and it's worthless so might as well get rid of it, as soon as it's gone I end up having a big revelation as to exactly WHAT would have been just the right thing to use it for. A few of those and you get trained.
You see, life is full of LUCK! You happen on a certain bass, a Modulus, a Ken Smith, a G&L, maybe even some vintage Radio Shack! Sure, at the time you aren't quite sure what you are going to do with it, but the deal is too good to pass up. And then you really get into it for a while. And then it sort of fades. At THAT point is when you are tempted to sell. And if you do (I'm talking selling for no reason here, not the same as financial troubles and need the money bail yourself out of other problems) Next thing comes the revelation of EXACTLY what that sold bass could do for you! And THEN you decide to bite the bullet and go get another one. And then guess what? Your luck has run out! Usually you can't find another one like the old one and if you do it costs an arm and a leg! And not only that, you discover once you've been raped to buy it, that the new bass is not nearly as good as the old one you let go for half what you paid for the new one!
Rule: Never sell anything unless you have to.
