As America opens up again and we get active playing I'm wondering just how many of us have had the virus or known someone who has. Given the world wide reach of TB we may get a view of the infection not seen elsewhere. In my own experience I've a Californian third cousin, a FB friend in reality, that contracted the bug from her son after a restroom break at a nursing home. Both had mild symptoms and recovered except for their senses of smell and taste that continue to be diminished. I know another band mate that I worked with decades ago whose father passed from the virus. So in this poll I would check option 3 indicating someone I know has had the bug, BUT NOT in my primary household (Option 2).
I know several someones personally whose relatives have / have had it, but nobody I know directly has been confirmed that I know of.
Unfortunately I know several people who have contracted COVID. For one, it was like a severe flu. For another, a relative, it was much worse and eventually fatal. Fortunately, no one in my immediate family has contracted it.
The plumbing company I work for (over 100 employees) had five people out with it a few weeks ago. All recovered. Last week , three more went out with it. All doing OK as far as I know.
A cousin of mine had it. He's my age, so early 30s, it was nasty but he survived. He lives three states away though.
Two co-workers in Dublin Airport, both recovered. Another three guys I work with have had grandparents affected, one fatality there so far, and at least one more imminent. They're currently back home in Spain caring for family. Another former colleague, who retired just a year ago, got it and has died...but he had heart issues so it's unclear what exactly killed him. One of my oldest friends' parents both got it. His father died, mother still in recovery. My brother-in-law in Florida has an aunt suspected of having it, but having a damn hard time getting her reliably tested.
I knew quite a few folks who had it. Some survived it. Some others died from it. 2 were very good friends of mine.
Well, first of all; my condolences to everyone who lost family and/or friends. That really has to suck.... I honestly don't know if anybody I know has had it. No one in my family has had it; neither has my ex-wife (who's still a friend). There's a good chance that my boss, a 69 yo smoker, and his wife - both of whom spend a lot of time in the casinos here, may have had it. The timing was right; no one was taking precautions at the time; and both of them were really sick with COVID-like symptoms for about a 10 days. And, since we work in a small space, there's a possibility that I might have caught it from him. I usually get a good, solid cold at that time (late February/early March) every year, and this one was a real doozy. Lasted twice as long as usual, but it never got anywhere near as bad as my boss. I never felt sick enough to stay home, in fact; and nobody was thinking about that at the time... I haven't been tested -and neither has he or his wife; so, who knows...?
You know, I had one hell of a cold/flu in late Feb/early March. Lasted almost a month. I played a gig (before the shutdown) and I recall feeling absolutely horrible and couldn't wait for the gig to be over. I hightailed it outta there!! I'm wondering if I had it. I'm also in the at-risk group and have had a Pneumococcal Pneumonia shot so that may have averted the Pneumonia aspect of Covid-19....if I in fact had it.
Personally, no one, but that could always change; a friend of mine who is active in the NJ/NY music scene was close to two people who did. One died, one had been in a coma, and a leg was amputated from complications; it’s not looking too good for him.
I know of some people that had it and did not survive, but thankfully no friends or family. I have allergies and am prone to sinus infections. A couple times I thought oh boy, is this it? But turned out to be.....allergies and sinus infections.
Me neither. Maybe I should expand my social circle. However, there are two people I know who need antibody tests, because I would be surprised if they didn't get it (multiple risk factors and a 2wk, really bad respiratory thing).
One of my co-workers is currently in the hospital due to Coronavirus, he's been in ICU for over a week now. I really hope he recovers (he's young but has asthma). His whole family got infected and his mom is also in the ICU. It's horrible.
I tested negative but I was exposed to someone who had it, right in the timeline to have caught it from them, so mathematically I think it likely I had it.
