Do you need a Sadowsky bass ?

You won't hear negative from me... not sad, at all.

No matter where I am, I still park my '08 truck in the boonies, where hopefully no one will think two shakes about it. My Sadowsky will not see a venue where they serve those little Vienna sausages... the main reason being, I don't want anyone shaking their little Vienna sausage at my Sadowsky...

Oh, heck yes !!! Freakin' awesome guitars, I play with a Jazz dude in one of my projects who would not trade his Sadowsky Archtop (Jim Hall Model) for any $300++K Gibson Archtop.... He's a believer! And, to me it sounds good, so I'm going with what he thinks....

I just did a search through the TB thread and eBay. What's the big deal? Sadowskys are selling as low as $2100 in either place. I know they can be up to 10,000USD but they sure seem to drop in value fast. Matter of fact, faster than the Fenders... :bag:

Sadowsky do make a cheaper model. You can buy a new metroline for about 2500 new.

Need? Nope.

But. Unless you are willing to spend a lot of time hunting (or buying and flipping) to find the elusive fall through the cracks amazing Fender, a Sadowsky is a good way to get a great bass in one purchase. It is arguably cheaper to buy a used MV series Sadowsky than go through a pile of Fenders to find one that works.

I'm a working guy player. I would rather buy something that works and then get on with the work the bands need done. That's where a Sadowsky shines.

Yes, I own one. And it is darn near in relic condition.

No, I don’t play professionally so my answer should likely be “no I don’t”... when I’ll retire, if I’ll ever manage to do so, I’ll buy maybe a slightly reliced Fender CS ... I like true vintage styled basses more than the contemporary ones as they remind me of the covers of many music albums I spent a lot of my time with ... that’s my 0.02

My #1 bass (YYD) goes on most of my gigs - doesn't matter if it is a local bar, farmer's market, or festival. There's a reason it is my first-call instrument, and it is showing some wear. Though not nearly as much as this guy's bass :D

I don't really agree with the notion that you have to be at a particular skill level to own a Sadowsky etc. If that were true then we would have to audition before we could buy it. :roflmao:. Like I wrote at another thread about a guy wanting to know if he was nuts to want a $9,000 Fodera (not Fedora lol). I wrote that if he could afford it then he was not nuts. Same thing goes for the kind of bass you play vs your skill level. If you can afford it, then you can own it no matter what your skill level is.
