Do you play bass standing vs sitting?

2 bands rehearse standing, one sits. Strap always. Maybe 10% of the time the band that sits to rehearse sits at a gig.

I have quite a heavy bass and I used to play only standing up. Now I do a mix of the two during practicing, but for the very few "gigs" I've done it's been standing up.

Due to osteoporosis, I stand until I can't anymore and then I sit. Then I use a bankers chair and memory foam seat pad.

For me it is all about weight, reach, and balance. Unless one (or more) of these is an insurmountable problem I will play standing. Otherwise seated. Since the music I prefer to play now is of the Taylor, King, Lightfoot, Croce variety, I have more opportunities to play seated. I will play a heavy bass seated; standing, not for very long.

Gigs are standing. When I can't stand for a gig, I'll stop gigging.

Semi Disabled. recently retired from gigging. Stood as long as I could, ended out investing in a cheap folding stool from walmart to lighen the load when I needed it. There are times when I felt it was the most important piece of gear. Hated to use it, but admitted to myself it was better than not being able to bend over to unplug gear after the show.

Not only would I stop gigging, I’d chuck the whole thing. I never saw the point of plunking on a bass by myself at home, it’s an ensemble instrument, to entertain the masses. Buddy/bro/beer jams? Snore.
