Do you recognize this (perhaps EMG) pot?

Hello all,

I recently bought a used P/J EMG pickup set, and the seller was kind enough to include what seems to be an active potentiometer of some kind. I think it looks dated, not something from their current line of products. There's no center detent on it. Do you guys recognize this by any chance? I'd like to have a rough idea of what it is if possible, before I get tempted to power black and red up with 9V and take it for a frequency sweep through my audio interface. Any help/info/suggestions are welcome. Thank you!

there's definitely a pcb soldered to the back of the pot. and it's holding a jfet opamp. might be a straight preamp, a part of the filter circuit or even an active balance control.

why don't you ask the seller, what's it?
 
It's an older EMG EXB bass expander control. It's basically a preprogrammed high/low boost with a mid cut. As you turn it up, it boosts highs and lows and cuts mids to give a strong scooped tone.

Not very common but I really like them as a one-knob active tone control.
 
On items like this, you’ll often see a make and model written on the PCB itself - in the third photo, it clearly says EMG EXB on the upper right.

These labels aren’t always on everything, but if you look carefully or scroll on your computer, you can make out the info if it’s there.

I wanna thank you guys for helping me identify this control. The writing on the PCB is so tiny, nearly impossible to pinpoint and read, especially without good lighting. I went ahead and did a frequency sweep of the control with my audio interface. The results are interesting as starting from fully counter clockwise position it initially seems to lower output, then forms a scoop, then boosts signal again when you 're at fully clockwise position. I made a little video of my measurements for your viewing pleasure, I hope you find it interesting.
