Do you still have your first bass?

Still have my Charvel 3B. I bought sometime in the late 80's ('87 maybe?). The spandex tights however are long gone.

I'm right there with you! I still have my 85 Charvel Model 1.

It mostly hangs on the wall in the studio with a few others I've retired. It's sported flats for years now and it does pull off a decent old school P vibe so I have used it for a session here and there, but I don't really use it for much of anything else. Regardless, there's no way I'll sell it!

Didn't keep my first bass, a bad plywood japanese copy jazz, but I did keep the bass I traded it for, the 1961 Fender Jazz in my avatar. Never missed the first bass, but would be distroyed if my 61 were gone.

My first bass was an arbor stilletto, & it's long gone. My next bass was a $90 red pawn shop p bass copy, & it's long gone as well. I still have my early 80's kramer striker though, which was my third bass ever. Not the best bass, but I hold on to it for nostalgic puposes mostly. I's also got $300 worth of emg's n it too, LOL...

My father gave me my first bass, it was his first too.
I hope one day it will be my sons first bass.

That 'handing down' thing is cool. I'm teaching my son to play the drums though, so I'll never need to find a drummer again, LOL....

It was an Yamaha RBX170, just to plink around on. When I go "hang" with him in his room I will jam on it and it plays absolutely killer! I still can't believe such a budget bass plays so well! It does sound a little thin, but I would gig with it if I had to.

I would never sell it because what could I buy for that cheap that plays that well?!

I still have my first GOOD bass, which was my second bass - a Rickenbacker 4001 my brother bought me new in 75 (it's actually a 74) when I was 15.
My first bass was a very crappy Japanese EB-0 copy.

I'm thinking about selling my first bass guitar, that sounds crappy but i think it has a emotional value to me, i'm not decided and afraid that if i sell it i'm gonna regret later...
Do you still have your first bass?
If not do you regret selling it?
I want to know your experiences and try to figure out myself if i should or should not sell my bass guitar.

still have my ibanez gsr200 i got 2 years ago. LOVE the bass. especially since i added some tesla pickups, the tone is amazing.

No, still have it, too much sentimental value/actually not worth selling to get rid.

Same with mine, the first bass I received that was actually mine was an Ibanez GSR200 and those are really cheap, so the sentimental value outweighs anything I might get for it. It's a good backup bass.

I still have mine...well sort of. When I got it, a long time ago, it had already been bastardised. It was a P bass originally which had a ESP neck with the headstock shaped as the fender P bass - back from when ESP made bass part. It also had a homebrew active pickups and electronics. It was a good bass though.

I then purchased a vintage P bass which I still own. I then tried to improve my original bass and I changed the body and pickups to passive but didn't do such a great job. I was going to sell it once but the buyer backed out and I'm sort of glad I still have it for sentimental reasons. But it has changed so much from what it originally was that I no longer have such a sentimental attachment to it as it is practically a different bass (only the neck is original and is actually really good).

It actually pains me to see it in its case unused. Sometimes I think of building myself a new bass with the neck but I really don't know what to do with it. I'm pretty much covered with what I have.
