Do you use use any single or multi-effects with your Ibanez TMB100?

Hi all. I'm still learning how to play bass. I bought an Ibanez TMB100 that I'm pretty happy with.

I play in our church worship band and have been told a compressor is a good option to help with the sound/tone/boost of bass guitar.

Being still new at this, I have some questions.

1. Since the TMB100 is "active", does it make any sense to use any external effects with it - single or multi?

2. When I have the volume cranked up on my bass I hear some hiss/background noise. Would a compressor help with that by allowing me to lower the volume on the guitar?

3. Does it make sense to use any effects with any active bass?

4. If you have a TMB100 - what effects, if any, do you use?

As you know, the bass itself is low cost, so if I were to get anything to enhance the sound I'd be looking to spend around $100 or so.

I went ahead and bought a Zoom B1X FOUR. So far I've only used it at home and am pleased with it.

I'm looking forward to trying it out at church.
