do your bandmates know you use talkbass?

Do your friends and bandmates know you go on a website and stare at fancy basses you'll never own and vent about how you get made fun of for using a pick?

In my experience, I try to relate a lot of info to them as far as the band management section of tb. Recording, promoting, stage setup. I think that stuff is way more important than figuring out which pickguard would go best with my tshirt.

Yes...like you, I relay the management stuff to them. I've also met 2 local TBer's, hooked them up with shows and exchanged contact info for different venues...TB has been a valuable resource for myself and my band. Which is why I'll become a supporting member one of these days...no, really...I will...I promise...

I've bought most of my gear off of it, or did enough research to be very satisfied with what I couldn't find used. I just wish there were more sites like it: maybe one strictly for band management. And not harmony central, which seems to be ran by a bunch of children.

I told the guitarist of my former band about a "website for bassists" that I regularly visit, but didn't say the name of said website, or tell him my handle. I wasn't too worried of him looking it up though, he still has dial-up.

Yeah I tell them. I also told them about this new term I learned a few years ago here.....guitard. My lead player loved it! Of course he isn't a guitard, and I rarely if ever use the term.

I also pass along stuff I read in Live Sound and Band Mgmt. After a few of the things I passed along worked out, they now listen pretty hard when I quote things from here.

No they don't know, but I cannot imagine it being a big deal to them because I am a bass player and the only one in our band. I suppose if they really wanted to say something about it they can, but the point of doing so would be kind of dumb.

Yeah, I am constantly talking abou tthis or that or how I had some misconception that was proved false. I keep trying to get them on their versions of a site. Does anyone know if there is one of these forums for drums? I know there is for guitar...
