DOD FX92 Bass Grunge problem

I've been after a bass grunge for a little while, and recently managed to get hold of one off ebay. It's great, except for one problem.
The volume drop, even at max vol, is so bad it's basically unusable. The volume drops to probably less than half of the clean tone, drops to the point where I thought my gear had all cut out.
It only becomes useable with a boost after it.
Was suggested in another thread I should give it a clean, but to be honest after opening it up I don't know where to start and it looks pretty spotless anyway, so thought I'd open it up to the rest of the forum.

All this aside it sounds great. Any advice? Am I missing something obvious, or is this a common problem?

Do any knobs crackle when you turn them?

Nope, no crackles! It seems to be perfect condition save the volume.

Pots can wear out - the volume pot could simply need to be replaced!

Sorry for sounding silly but, how would I go about replacing the vol pot? Could you recommend any websites that would help me or that would at least point me in the right direction?

Not off the top of my head, but it's relatively simple. DOD doesn't make it easy.

You can source a 100K (most likely audio or "log" taper) pot with right angle PCB mount legs from Link Removed

Because they're soldered on the opposing side, you'll most likely have to use wire cutters or a similar heavy duty cutting device to cut the legs of the pot off then carefully heat the solder and pull the leg that is soldered in out. Once you've got them out it's easy peasey, just solder in the new pot! If you need more assistance or are hesitant to do this just PM me, brother.

Wow... thanks man, I think I'm following you! Now I know what I'm up against I'll see if I can get a 100k pot from my local Maplins (am UK based) and I'll more than likely PM you in a cold sweat with DOD parts all over my garage!
Thanks again, I appreciate it!
