In one cab you can switch between 4 and 16 ohms, but not 4 and 8 ohms. If you've got multiple cabs, you can of course use 8 ohm for 1 cab and 4 ohm for 2 cabs.

Does anyone have a multi speaker cabinet where you wire it in 4ohms for certain situations and 8ohms in others?

I have a vintage 2x15 with two 16 ohm drivers that I wired for 8 or 32 ohms specifically to protect the drivers from my high powered Streamliner amp and to trigger the tube amp emulation when the amp is pushed into soft clipping at higher ohms. Check this.

No, because I can't think of a problem that this would be a good solution for.

Barefaced makes a Two10 with a switch to select 4 or 12 Ohms. The original configuration was a fixed impedance. Then they marketed a mod kit. Now the switch is available on new cabs.

Alex had it on his site or in the Barefaced thread here, but I can't seem to find it. If my memory serves me, he stated it wasn't exactly 4 or exactly 12 but it effectively was close enough. I'm probably paraphrasing very poorly, because it is beyond my understanding. There's probably also a reason why this information isn't easily found on a search.

What's wrong with using a 4 ohm cab that is well matched to your amp and turning down the volume if you need less loud?
