Beautiful, truly beautiful. Words to live by.
Food is life. Live it well.

Something I didn't mention, my lady and I really get a chance to connect during a three hour dinner. We laugh and talk and really get to have a wonderful conversation, it's an amazing experience.
And don't take that the wrong way Gard, you'll have the same sooner than you know it!
Davidoc said:I was in New York about a week ago visiting relatives. We went into Manhattan once, tourist style. A cousin of ours took us to a fancy (stereotypical Italian) restaurant. Its name was something to the effect of "Gino's".
I don't really understand the appeal of these places. The menu was very limited. There simply weren't many options, and the prices were ridiculous. (and unjustified) I got some tortellini for $15. It was pretty good, but the portion was very small, less than 1/2 of what I'd get in one of those sealed plastic boxes you get at the grocery tortellini. It tasted pretty good; about on par with the grocery store tortellini, and better than canned ones. It cost $15 for enough to serve a child, and I'm going to go so far as to debate wheather it even tasted as good as the grocery store stuff. Also, the bread tasted weird.
Is there anyone else who'd just rather go to IHOP?
edit: btw, I know that I'm an an uncultured slob!![]()
Davidoc said:Heh, well it wasn't just pasta. There was also mandatory appetizers and encouraged deserts. I'm not gonna bitch about the appetizers (antipasto etc) because I don't like any of the stuff they had, as far as I know. I'm pretty sure I tried what i got and gave it to my mom. The $15 was just for the main course.
Someday if I ever make it out there (its rediculous how Ive managed to not make it out there yet), lets grab us some sushi.Gard said:j-bo, no, I can't take that the wrong way. The best memories of "that time" were the long dinners and just talking for hours. It actually has happened a few times since, but not with a permanent companion.
I love going out to dine as well....but it's a social thing for me, I can't do it alone. If I'm alone, I'll just eat at home.

I hear you're a fan and Im fond of the stuff myself.
I like trying new foods any chance I get. The less I know about whats in any specific roll the better it sounds to me.
Peace
Nick

Woodchuck you probably already know this, but the younger guys may not:- be wary of lavish spending by your record company. It all ends up on te list of recoupable costs, meaning the band ends up paying it back via ablum sales. Every record deal is different so it's not always like that, just be wary of it.Woodchuck said:If I'm paying, I don't get them. On a serious note, the owners of Paramount Studios took the band to a steakhouse on Sunset Blvd. and we ran up a $900+ tab!The bottled water was $20 a pop, and we ordered like 7 of them. As for the food, it was very good (aged steaks!) and the portions were great, but the prices! The producer, Darryl Swann, ordered some huge steak that was $67! When the bill came, the owners looked at it like is was "normal". Ahh, high society! As for NYC joints, I like Cafe Espaniol (sp?). EXCELLENT food. It's near Washington Square Park, and Apache West Indian Cafe in Bed Sty in Brooklyn. Ooh, I forgot about Wo Hop in Chinatown!
