Double Bass Does anyone ever talk about guitarists?

I definitely feel that I am far more influenced by other instruments than the bass - guitar, keys, horns, drums etc. I've never really focused very much on bassists since I was in my teens, though I'm coming back to listening to them now, a couple of decades later.

I play bass, guitar and keys. My guitar influences are Eric Clapton, Mark Farner, Neal Schon, Jimmy Page, and Brian May. The biggest influence is a good friend/guitarist whom I have known for 35 years. He got me started my listening to a lot of great musicians and also got me started playing music.

The guitar player that influenced me, as far as learning what a good player really is, is Alex Lifeson. Geedy is able to do all the wonderful playing he does because Alex lays down a solid foundation for him. He can solo too but most of the time he carries the tune.

I don't know, I can't seem to think of any guitarists that play anything but Rock (that a DB player may actually have actually heard of or been influenced by). At least that I can spell the name of correctly.
