Does anyone know this jazz bass pickup?

Hi,
Im working on this ancient japanese jazz bass and it has this pickup in the bridge position. The sticker on the back says ib-j
Does anybody know what kind of pickup it is, as I don't even have any information on the bass (it was completely painted over etc).

Best Guess from what I remember from seeing the original sticker chart that I can't find online anymore:
1 = Vintage wind
B = Bridge version
J = Jazz Bass

If you can measure the bridge pickup, it should read the longer physical size, a hair shy of 3 3/4 inches, and if you can measure the DC resistance, it should read no less than @ 7.5 to 8 kohms. SD tends to overwind their vintage pickups a little bit, but should still be less than 10 kohms.

Hi iiipopes, thanks for your reply. So the sticker probably gives an indication of the type of pickup.
Im gonna measure the resistance.

Was there something that made you think these were seymour duncan pickups? (I'm asssuming that's what you meant by "SD.") The SD vintage jazz pickup is labeled SJB-1N for neck and SJB-1B for bridge, usually on a longer rectangular sticker.

Hi dwizum, no I didn't asume it was a SD. I didn't mention SD in my question. I was wondering what kind of pickup it could be, because I never saw this sticker IB-J. I thought that it might be an old Ibanez because of the IB, but I really don't know.

Yes. Many moons ago, these coded stickers were what Seymour Duncan used on the bottoms of their pickups. I have had many Seymour Duncan pickups over the years, and the label in size, type of letters, and general appearance of everything is consistent with early SD pickups.

Good to know! I was wondering if they'd changed the label. In terms of the pickup itself (type of wire used, distance the poles stick out, type of pole, etc) it certainly fits with their vintage model.
