Does Anyone Know Who Wayman Tisdale is?

Im A huge Wayman tisdale fan, i love his skills not only on the bass but the court!
I Know he played for the suns, kings, and pacers, and passed away not to long ago! Such a beautiful and nice guy blessed with a gift and died too soon but ive notice that some bassist out their dont have not on clue who he is, does anyone know him but me?:smug:

Waymon was a great guy. Tremendous player on the stage and on the court. He was truly a nice person as well. Still had a smile on his face after losing his leg and was always one of the most gracious celebrities I've ever met. Not too many are cut from that fine a cloth. RIP.

Waymon Tisdale was a smooth Jazz bassist following a Spectacular college basketball career (All American) and a multi-year NBA career. He was always a music enthusiast, and following his basketball career embarked on a career as a jazz musician. He played the bass lefthanded and upside down. He sadly died at a premature age.

That is how I remember his basketball career. I have heard him play lead bass and have bought a few songs. Did he ever play as a rythmn section bassist for someone else on record

Well, it depends on the type of music you listen to. If one is a rocker or metalhead, they'd have no clue. For those into funk, r&b and jazz, he was most certainly on our radar!

And one of the nicest guys on the planet. Gone too soon.

Gotta agree with ya, voodoo. He was one of the most gracious people I've ever met celebrity or not. He played a show with Tom Braxton here in Tulsa, many years ago now, that I was on the stage crew for and he was a joy to watch. Afterward he sat around with us till late into the night joking around and talking about music, gear and life. What an awesome human!

Great, great guy. You couldn't find a better guy. I had taken my step-son to a basketball camp and he was there coaching/instructing. We started with the small talk, about b-ball and such. This was right after he retired. He noticed me wearing a baseball cap that was bass guitar-related, and that's all it took. We started talkin' about what gear we had, and we really hit it off when I told him I had a pre-Gib Tobias. For those not in the know that was his primary player for quite some time.
He wasn't the type of player that leaves scorch marks on the f/board from blistering lines. His strong suit, IMO, was being an 'out front,pocket player", if that makes any sense.

R.I.P., big guy.
