Does Anyone other than La Bella make Strings for the Fender Mustang ?

La Bella makes strings for my Squire Mustang Bass , it is through the body so no short string will work . I want Flat Wounds , La Bella 760F-Mus
$45.99 will work and I have checked every string maker including Fender thinking at least they would make a Flat Wound strings for their own Mustang Guitar as
their prices are at least $10-15 cheaper than La Bella's . I could try medium length Flat Wounds but then you have to trim the silk ends and if there is to much string
you end up not having the silk around the peg where is should be tapered , any ideas or is La Bella it. ? Thanks

Fender uses the 9050L on the JMJ Mustangs. That said, most reviews I have seen dislike those strings and end up going with the La Bella set. I have the La Bellas on my Mustang. Will not use anything else on that bass. Great set of strings.

Let us all recite the mantra:
1) measure from the ball anchor to the tuner side of the nut.
2) measure from the ball anchor to the center of the tuner post on the lowest string. (In this case, the E string)
3) purchase a set of strings that the speaking or winding length is between these two measurements.

Many sets of strings will fit a Mustang string-through. But not all sets of strings nominally the correct length will be able to take the string-through bend over the E string saddle. La Bella, OTOH, engineers this particular set for the sharp bend over the E-string saddle. Oh-BTW-GHS Balanced Nickels short-scale will barely fit.

Flats are "cheap" in the long run considering how long they can last, ie years. Invest the money on something that you know will work and be happy for a long time!

Ok, I am coming from a guitar background where strings were cheap and when playing out we used to change strings weekly and
Bass guitar strings , the La Bella's $ 45.00 !! When you guys say last for years , just how many years ? I just started on Bass and just a back porch picker . Thanks

Some notable pros who used La Bella flats rarely, if ever, changed strings. That would include James Jamerson and Joe Osborne. We're talking 15-20 years with the same set of strings. $45 is nothing based on their potential lifespan.

Is it the same as a Squier Mustang bass. Sorry couldn’t resist he he

You can see the taper on the "A" string. Its 1-3/4" from the nut. The "E" taper is the same distance so it's barely wrapped around the tuning peg at all. PXL_20250303_183309842.jpg

I was overly frugal and avoided the La Bella strings for years on my Mustang, but finally got them last summer. Simply amazing, I wish I would've bought them the first time I saw them recommended. Now that I've tried them, I'll happily buy another set whenever these strings truly die.

I've had the same set of Labella flats on my P bass since 2018 and still no need to even consider changing them.
