You might as well not if people are going to get offended so easily for nothing.

It would be like you saying does anybody use fender pick ups? I personally use Lindy Fralin and I like them a lot. However, I don’t see many people buying the fender pickups anymore. Does anybody have them?

Then you get a whole bunch of people you piece of crap how can you dare down talk fender. With people being like that and people having to pay to post on talk bass now they’re going to lose a lot of subscribers. I know I don’t wanna pay for a gold membership anymore.

You started the cheap wood rip off comment and comparing to a Harley Benton. I wonder why people who likes EBMM will be offended on this thread. The post lost its savor a long time ago and, I’m so done explaining. I’ve realized “people like being offended or appalled.” It’s a real

SR love Is real. My perspective is no one should’ve ever taken anything offensively. I was merely asking a question if people still use them as their main bases because, I see a lot more people using other basses than stingrays. My $10 word responses were in light of people being smug and making unnecessary jokes or comments without clarification that it was a joke.

This thread has turned into a gang of people offended as if I hate stingrays. I don’t use them but, I don’t hate them. Furthermore, After looking at the price of $2600 when I thought they were made of basswood. I thought it was overpriced and I just gave my opinion on that. Never one time did I say stingray sucks. I don’t like people who use them or people should stop using them.

I think people just like being offended and, I think it’s a release for people. Life deals us a lot of stress and we have lots of responsibilities so the minute we can unleash that in a ferocious way. We take it.

Had Everybody just stayed on topic with simple answers like yes I still use stingray. I have a 1971 or a 2005 that I use every day. Some of the comments of people saying they don’t know where I got those metrics from YouTube and other sites are not a good basis to judge what I’m seeing on is all fair. However impugning the post over a question seemed largely “superfluous.”

This thread has now been “subsumed” and circumvented of sting ray owners believing or pretending to believe that they are offended by me asking who uses them.

It’s sad however once you get one person to permeate a thread. Others follow suit making everything moot.

Be honest with you, bra, people probably don't know how to read your overly formal style of talking. They're unsure if you are being condescending. I wouldn't say they're ganging up on you. But some do seem to be taking cues from each other as to how to understand the subtext of your posts.

I don't know who you are, where you're from or what languages you speak. I did see you respond to one non-English post. So I suspect, given the inappropriately formal style you use, that English may not be your mother tongue. But your flawless grammar is not making that obvious.

Plainly, you came here because of an interest in basses. And it's a good place to talk about that. I'd suggest you try not to be offended by people misreading your intentions, even though they're not extending you the same courtesy. If you are using an AI translator, maybe turn down the formality, if that's an option. An informal tone in English is not as offensive as it would be in some other cultures.

If you stick around, I expect you'll become used to people's mannerisms. And they'll become used to yours.

This was all interpreted completely completely wrong and your circumventing what I meant this is what I’m saying. This is why I’m not paying to subscribe to this. It’s just too many people that can’t read or turn everything into this offensive thing.

To your request, I will respond to everything you said. First off. I didn’t get offended when somebody didn’t agree with me.. The person was making smug undertones and I simply said it was unnecessary. Then they explained to me after the fact that it was a joke and didn’t explain that before. I then replied and said, I didn’t know it was a joke until now and I let it go then people continue to reply to that same comment not reading that we squashed it further egging it on.

I did not impugn Basswood. I said I thought it was made of bass and “I personally wouldn’t pay $2600 for that. In a follow-up sentence, I clearly stated that there are people who will and I’m not saying that those people are wrong or they shouldn’t. I just said I wouldn’t because I don’t like that wood. That’s being circumvented as I was impugning people. You see how the narrative is being changed. That’s why it’s no point in posting on here people interpret your post or they want to be offended before actually even reading what you’re actually saying or asking, “What do you mean by that? The just want to be offended. It’s pointless.

Certainly not worth losing any sleep over...I offend Fender fanatics pretty much once a week and I still haven't lost any friends.
(In fact, using "fanatics" instead of "fans" might even be considered objectionable.)

I mean, there's a StingRay owners club thread.

Just check the member numbers on that gives you a metric.

But I'll bet that it represents just a fraction of the TalkBass members who own, and play StingRays (I'm not a member of any clubs, and I know quite a few other TB members who play StingRays, but aren't club members).

Then you've got to factor in that the vast majority of bass players have never even heard of Talk Bass ( ) let alone joined, or posted about what instrument they're playing.

Ok guys!!! After doing a quick research of musicman “In my opinion” you’re getting ripped off. They are using Basswood the most cheapest unreliable wood for a bass body and charging people almost $3000. They are so ashamed of saying that it’s Basswood because they know consumers will probably stop by and get that they classify it on Sweetwater site as “Select Hardwood.” If you are OK with paying almost 3 grand for a bass that uses basswood. Cool to each his own. I personally don’t like that wood, but that’s just me others might.

It's like talking to a wall. Let't try it your way, I have nothing but time on a Sunday night and kids are not going to school tomorrow.

You can believe any stupid claims or metrics you see on social media, it's not your money that people buy their overpriced instruments. It could be for many reason but the most important one is It's none of your business. You can buy whatever pickups you want with very little research you have done and try to justify that however you like it. If you see the value in a $200 HB you go for it. Personally, I would not post anything stupid on a forum when, especially when you clearly don't know what you are talking about, but I'm not saying you can't. You do you.

I'd love to someday bring it all the way down to one punch way above the weight best bang for the buck Harley Benton/ Glary Collabs Bass, but for now I'll just suffer the consequences of having too many overpriced basses. You do you man!

First of all, I'm not taking any sides in this. Just I been around a lot of ESL people in my life and recognise mutual misunderstanding when I see it.

Secondly, I also been around young people. And I'm guessing you might be a tad below the average age of this forum. Not to disrespect you for that. But in my experience, young people often struggle with letting minor offensive comments pass, unmentioned. OTOH, young people and their fresh perspective, often bring worthwhile ideas to a debate. Weput up with one to enjoy the other.

Personally, I hope you stay here and everyone can put all the vexation behind them. But it ain't gonna happen unless you take the high road, unfair as it may seem. Hell, it is unfair. Try to think of it as a goodwill gesture. You'll reap the rewards down the track

First, of all the Harley Benton post Came way later in the thread. The negative comments came in well before that again “circumventing.”

Furthermore. It was a “general statement” I was saying Harley benton makes stuff out of the same wood and charges way less so I would try that over paying $2600 for music man. Again, that’s not to say that you shouldn’t pay for the music man or a Sterling bass or whatever you wanna pay for.

You’re pissed that I won’t spend my money on that and you’re seemingly offended that you spent your money on it and I didn’t.
