Social Media is a poor source of credible information, especially when the posters are anonymous and don't cite their sources. Most algorithms including YouTube will send you videos that align with your viewing history. For example, If you watch a few Fender videos then you will be presented with more Fender videos instead of Music Man videos. That is basically how their software algorithm works. If the viewer isn't aware of this then they will get the impression that there is little if any discussion of Music Man basses.

A good measure of the popularity of a bass or manufacturer is how often they show up on the classified ads. Last I checked there was a huge presence of Music Man basses. I think an awful lot of people are playing them, including me.

BTW, Basswood probably has the most pleasant scent when machining, of all the different woods I've encountered in my career.
Spanish Cedar is also very nice too.

I still play mine. Sept 7 I have to play at a festival with a big sound system etc. My old 95 SR5 has a tone that sits perfect in a big FOH setup.
Never used one myself. But I fully expect our friends posts are exactly what a Chat GST translation sounds like when set to formal.
Perhaps the best answer to the original question is six and a half pages overnight. You don't even need to read them to know there'll be a heap of SR love In there.
Actually that just shows a lot of people are selling them. Looks exactly like it would if they really had suddenly gone out of fashion.

This thread has turned into a gang of people offended as if I hate stingrays. I don’t use them but, I don’t hate them. Furthermore, After looking at the price of $2600 when I thought they were made of basswood. I thought it was overpriced and I just gave my opinion on that. Never one time did I say stingray sucks. I don’t like people who use them or people should stop using them.
I think people just like being offended and, I think it’s a release for people. Life deals us a lot of stress and we have lots of responsibilities so the minute we can unleash that in a ferocious way. We take it.
Had Everybody just stayed on topic with simple answers like yes I still use stingray. I have a 1971 or a 2005 that I use every day. Some of the comments of people saying they don’t know where I got those metrics from YouTube and other sites are not a good basis to judge what I’m seeing on is all fair. However impugning the post over a question seemed largely “superfluous.”
This thread has now been “subsumed” and circumvented of sting ray owners believing or pretending to believe that they are offended by me asking who uses them.
It’s sad however once you get one person to permeate a thread. Others follow suit making everything moot.
The post lost its savor a long time ago and, I’m so done explaining. I’ve realized “people like being offended or appalled.” It’s a real
SR love Is real. My perspective is no one should’ve ever taken anything offensively. I was merely asking a question if people still use them as their main bases because, I see a lot more people using other basses than stingrays. What does that mean.
It would be like you going to a BMW thread and saying hey does anybody still drive the BMW X2 they don’t seem to be as popular these days. I see online people mostly promoting the X3 and X5.
Then you get a whole bunch of BMW X2 owners who drive the X2 berating you because you were asking does anybody still drive them and, then they’re making passive aggressive undertones and being offended that you would even ask such a question.
They “are not” really offended they just wanna spew hate. Which makes it pointless to even ask a question. “MEH.”
