No shadow, that's the sub-Squier wood grain diverging.

umm does it stay in tune? have a good setup? sound good? if you answer yes to all those then stop being picky.
if it's causing a problem then yes, fender should fix it.

Is that kind of divergent wood grain prone to cracking? Is it substandard to straighter-grained necks? If so, and you are really unhappy about it, I think you should let Fender know. They aren't exactly cheap, nor do they advertise themselves as "budget" basses. Tell them, see what happens!

It's a flat-sawn neck. I don't know what you were expecting in terms of wood grain, but if the neck isn't warped and doesn't have any humps in the fingerboard then Fender owes you nothing. If you bought the bass online maybe you shouldn't do that next time.
