Does having a better, high-end bass improve your playing?

I think that on average, the more you spend on a bass, the better the quality / tone is. You stand a much better chance of a bass playing great straight off the wall at the store if it's expensive. Less chance on a cheap bass due to manufacturing expenses. That said, you can find great cheap basses all over the place , the trick is you have try out a load before you find a good one. Plus a great setup can make just about anything play good.

If you are talking about that new black Squier 5 string, it was the best sounding bass in the store last time I went to GC. I tried way more expensive basses... That Black one with the synthetic fingerboard (All black) is killing. Price has 0 to do with it. I love my Ibanez ATK305. I had a Bongo and I hated it.
