Does Lemmy use Flatwounds?

I wouldnt be to surprized if Lemmy uses flatwounds.
I´ve heard that he uses Dean Markleys but Im not shure there either.

Why would it be so odd? if he use flats?...I mean the man has been around since the 60´s...he has been playing bass since the early 70´s or so.
Flats was very common in these days (the early 70`s even if some players started to use strings like Rotosound roundwounds etc...around this period.

It wouldn't be illogical. His sound is very midrangey. Chromes or Roto77's might be in that vein of tone that Lemmy uses...

I remember someone on here in another thread posting that they had been back stage at a motörhead show and all lemmys basses had SUPER old rounds that had rust and grime all over them, this is just from my personal memory though an I can't for the life of me remember what the thread was. I think maybe someone had asked how often to change strings and that guy answered?

No of course not, he doesnt use flats. He's been using dean blue steels for awhile now. Rotosound swing66 before that to best of my knowledge. Lemmy playing flats, lmao.

I think Lemmy's sound has very little to do with his strings and more to do with his bass (obviously Rick) and amp settings (treble-0, mid-10, bass-0) on an overdriven ampeg. Could be wrong about the amp brand, but I read his amp settings in BP a few years ago and thought "that makes sense".

He uses Marshall amps nowadays, not sure about the 70's and 80's though. Also, the motorhead website says he uses Dean Markley Blue Steel strings, but doesn't mention what gauges. According to a wikipedia article I read a while back, he uses the bridge PU solo'd, the volume and tone on the bass maxed, and his amp settings, are, as mentioned above:
Bass-0
Middle-10
Treble-0

EDIT: Also, he always played with a pick AFAIK.

Lemmy always has and always will use Marshall heads and cabs. His sig head is basically a hot-rodded Superbass. He has his bass and treble slightly cut and his mids cranked all the way. Also the master volume is cranked to about 3'o'clock. The Rick adds alot due to it's clanky and aggressive tone, but most of the time he only uses the neck pup with the tone and volume up. I've heard him play a Gibson T-bird and sound exactly the same. It's in the overdriven Marshall and his heavy picking style. Also alot of drones and power chords. He hasn't to my knowledge ever used flats. He was a guitarist until Hawkwind and always after an aggressive tone. The last several years, he has used Dean Markleys (possibly blue steel) exclusively for the past several years and maybe a long time before that.

Yup Marshall amps. Hes used those for as long as I remember. Not sure what amps he used when he was in Hawkwind. The marshalls are shown nicely several times on the Lemmy documentary vh1 classic tv station has been running the past few months.
