Does neck profile effect tone much? Or does a jazz and p neck sound the same?

Just wondering myself, I’d imagine that the necks would sound pretty identical if two necks ever could sound the same. I’d imagine the slightly smaller amount of wood probably wouldn’t make much of a difference right?

got some money and am probably about to buy a dream bass! So any opinions would be nice!

How a neck feels and plays to you is infinitely more important than any possible difference the width or thickness makes to the sound.
