Does the heat affect your tuning?

An outdoor gig in tropical weather drove me to buy my first pedal, a boss tu 2 =) It really made the second day of the festival easier on the ears.

I think it's the wood and the metal, open grain wood is a humidity thing for certain...

Thats for sure - the MM I spoke of had an unfinished neck.

We are talking about comparitives here, to be fair...if teh strings themselves are affected, there is NO instrument immune to that prevailing condition.

However, the ones which will perform best will have graphite construction - the more of it there is, the more stable.

Yes, outdoor gigs , 90 degress & humid the strings go out
a bit and my round wound strings feel like syrup.
Sticky. I use neck-ease and wipe the neck often.

Our band practices in a building next to the drummer's house. It's not air-conditioned, and we just use fans and the doors are closed because of the neighbors. When we are practicing, I check my tuning between songs. It can get pretty warm in there.

When we take a smoke break, we open the doors and go out on the screen-in porch. When we resume practice, I am out of tune again because the room has cooled down.

So, yes. It does affect things.

Note: I have a Korg PitchBlack tuner. I would go insane without a tuner in my pedal-chain.

You would therefore be more in tune if you didn't smoke! ANOTHER reason to quit!
