PA amplifiers aren’t designed to do the processing necessary for use as an instrument amplifier - they’re a power amplifier, the user is expected to know how to feed it an appropriate signal. To use a DC 300 with bass, you’d need a bass preamp, and a well designed bass preamp woul have a high pass filter. The fact that you aren’t aware of the one bass amp line that briefly featured DC coupling helps make the point that bass guitar amps come with high pass filters.Plenty of people used DC300s for bass.

Thank you2. The later SWR products, such as the Spellbinder Blue, HeadLite and Working Pro, did include HPF's, this is a natural evolution. The same applies to the later speakers, they became more robust out of necessity as the costs of warranty replacements became unacceptably high.
3. The entire Eden WT series included a HPF, as did the WTX series. The low frequency band is not fixed at 30Hz, but sweeps from 30Hz to 300Hz, but with the included HPF, this effectively shifts the 30Hz calculated point upwards somewhat.
4. The SVT-III (and SVT-III Pro) does have significant first order HPF, not as aggressive as many of their later products like the PB series, PF series and SVT-7 Pro. Again, designs evolve.
I never used one until i blew some speakers twice playing upright. I actually cannot hear the difference but eliminating the ultra low frequencies from the E string my speaker excursion is greatly reduced. Many years ago many upright players took the E string off or left it slack because it was basically inaudible also for years uprights were often built with 3 strings in this context it may help explain an HPFSince HPF is a pretty new silly fad and Big Block is a pretty old school hefty amp - i'd say no. And in my opinion you don't need HPF - build in or in a pedal - for this, or any other head.
