Does the Truss Rod Move With the Wood?

When a neck moves with the weather/time/conditions does the truss rod move with it?

I ask this because if you tighten the truss rod more than a handful of times you've completely run out of adjustment. And if wood is constantly changing, the need to adjust the truss will always be present.

If wood is unpredictable and never stops moving but truss rod adjustment is finite; is it only a short matter of time before any given neck just can't be adjusted anymore?

I've always been confused about this.

No the truss rod doesn't move. The wood doesn't move in only one direction though, it expands AND contracts with the humidity. Your adjustments aren't always to tighten the truss rod, over the course of several years you will probably loosen it as much as you tighten it.
