Double Bass Does this crack require repair?

The neck is not moving. Is this a harbinger of future problems or merely cosmetic? Any opinions would be appreciated.

It looks as though the body took a hit from the left, maybe coming down onto the floor too fast. The disturbance of the finish along the seam is to be expected, but the little split down the back is worrisome (did it do the same in front?). It's possible the neck block (even the dovetail) is cracked, and a similar hit could pop the neck off the joint. I expect it would be very hard to diagnose fully without taking it apart, tho. It deserves close inspection by a pro.
