Does this exist...DI with XLR abd 1/4 out with speaker sim on XLR only

Just wondering folks. I'm after a simple active DI with 1/4 inch input, 1/4 output to go to onstage rig and XLR output for FOH with speaker simulation on the XLR only.

The reason for this is I find the tone I get through my rig is perfect, but generally the same tone going to FOH usually ends up sounding a bit brighter and harsh, whereas speaker simulation usually darkens the sound just enough.

The DarkGlass 'Deluxe' and 'Ultra' products put the same output signal on both 1/4" and XLR, but they also feature a Parallel Out 1/4" which is just a copy of the unaffected input signal. Works well for this.

I thought that was the nature of a speaker sim / emulation. I was gonna suggest the BDDI but that's more of a tube pre emulation, not a speaker sim. I have an ancient H&K Red Box that appears to meet your description.

You have unaffected parallel out.

There are loads of bass DI boxes that have speaker sim on there but I don't know the models. Try JDI, Radial. I thought you wanted some rig tone with it.

no, i think the BDDI has speaker sim baked in all around. the entire original mission statement of "sans amp" products was to emulate the whole thing, speaker, mic and all.

the newer VTDI lets you turn the sim on and off, but i think it does so in the 1/4" and XLR outs at the same time. (agree with @jcburn, a way to take it out of your stage rig (y'know, the one that already has speakers) while leaving it in the XLR out to the PA would be awesome.

The 1/4" parallel out of the VT Bass DI is unaffected.

right, but it also doesn't do any preamping, so it's not gonna help you drive a power amp. it's just the same signal you had going into the thing.

i do use mine on my BDDI as a parallel tuner out, though; it's already getting a buffered signal from my other pedals (so no tone suck) and i like to have the tuner showing while i play.

i just set the output level on my sansamp really high, then step on it to cut it off when i tune; i still hear sound when tuning, it's just way quieter.

I recently asked Tech 21 about this exact issue, because I wanted the VTDI cab sim to go to the board but not to my cabinet. Even if the cab sim is off (the button isn't pressed) and you're not hearing it through your cabinet, it is automatically engaged for the xlr out only as soon as a mic cable is plugged into the xlr out. This is accurate -- if you listen through the board while playing and toggle the cab sim button on and off, you'll hear no difference. You can simultaneously use the regular 1/4" out (not the parellel out) to go to your cab and you'll get whatever you have dialed in on the pedal out of your cabinet without the cab sim, assuming the button for it isn't pressed. Naturally this isn't in the manual anywhere, which is why I got in touch with support.
