Does this sound like a good live setup?

Before everyone talks you out of the 18 cab let me just say I bet it would sound killer crossed over at around 80hz with the 4x10 high passed at the same frequency. Sorry, I don't have experience with the cabs in question, I'm just making an educated guess.

I would only go for the massive low end on stage if you are not running through the PA. If you are then you'll be asking for a lot of feedback and cancellation issues.

I love 18's don't run away from them just because people on here say that they aren't the bee's knees. They are a different sound. Some are faster than others, some are very slow as people have mentioned. I used nothing but two 18's at one point, and it was because I like a smoother sound that still punches and can be felt. It was all that. I never had a problem playing higher up the neck. I never had a problem with punch. I never had a problem with speed. It just had a different tone. Now the 215 will have more volume to it than a single 18. So go with what you think you'll like more or even better if you can try both, get which you like more.

I use a D212XLT and am looking forward to buying a D215XLT.

At one point I was running a Kern preamp into a PLX 2402 into an Eden D410T and D118XL. Very similar rig to what you're looking at.

IT KILLED!

I certainly didn't need PA support. Anywhere. Including outdoor festivals. I loved the 118XL. Only reason I dropped it is because I went to smaller and lighter. Not because I didn't like it. Yeah, it wasn't hi-fi, but that's what the 410 was for. I never lacked for depth or volume, and frankly sounded really good to me. Of course, I only used the full rig outside. Most places we played, the D410T was plenty. But I always carried it and had it if I needed it.

i would go for the 2x15 instead of the 18, IMHO.

I would go with the 115XLT, myself. Thing has plenty of that "big speaker hug", but also has great mids and highs.

The 118 might be great too ... but I'll always go for a 15 over an 18 unless you're bi-amping, which I don't reccomend.

Either way -- YES a great live rig with TONS of punch and depth.

well in the end its totally up to you.. But unless you are not running through a system, you don't really need anything but the 410. I play through the same ampeg 410bxt that I was using when I played small clubs with 50 peopldand used it when I played in front of about 8,000. I almost wonder why I even lug that heavy thing around anyway, I use In ear monitors so I usually keep the power amp set pretty low to minimize stage volume...

But if its worth it to you to drop the extra $ on an additional cab, I say go for it.

don't let them talk you into getting rid of that 18, if you ever play a big place or any outdoor show, you'll be glad you have it. your pre and power amps are also good choices, ampeg for tone, peavey for power and reliability.

I agree to dump the 18 and get a 15 or even better, another 410. I think a wall of tens provide better all-around preformance and can get very good bass and not be muddy. But that's just me...

Bigger speakers simply sound different. An all 10s rig can put out lots of bass, but it is just plain different than a 15 or 18. And YES despite the specs, a good single 15 or 18 is audible next to a loud modern 2x10 or 4x10.

Some of us like big drivers. Really! The slower response and room filling "cushion" is essential for a satisfying rock experience for me in most larger venues, and many rehersal spaces. In a boomy room, obviously the 10s are going to fare better.

On a big stage without side fills, if you sing, a 15" or 18" is essential .... you might be 30 feet from your amp, and with only 10s its gonna sound thin up there. If you stand an inch from your amp and have full PA support, 10"s are better.
