Does This Sound Like Sci-Fi or What?

YES!!! Awesome! It's the Andromeda Strain! SWEEEEEET!!!

Since we're all now destined to die, I guess the world won't mind if I speed up the process, will they?

I'm off to Hot-Topic. I'ma go slay me some emo kids. Teach em that razor blades to the wrists don't work as well as a battle axe to the jugular.

Keep me posted if they find a cure for this, so I can stop killing by tea time.

It certainly does :D

But if I can comfort you, the microbes that affect human beings usually have to have a long, mutual history with the 'host', and the whole process of affecting a living being is rather delicate. Also, our bodies are quite capable of fighting pretty much any bacteria that might get in. Third, anything on the surface of the meteor is most probably destroyed in deep space due to the coldness and the radiation, and would hardly survive the heat from entering the athmosphere, and if trapped inside the meteor, wouldn't get out so quickly to affect any villagers.

I'd assume it's some toxic stuff in the ground that has been released because of the impact. It probably puncutured some underground volcanic stream carrying dissolved or vaporized chemicals, judging from the news.
