For all the other things that seem to get ignored by the authorities, you'd think a prosecutor would be happy to be rid of a (now) convicted rapist, and applaud the US bounty hunter.....

It's a shame. He seems like a pretty cool guy. It's not like he got arrested for doing something bad.

Uh, kidnapping, be it by bounty hunter or whomever, is illegal in Mexico. You travel to foreign lands, you live by foreign rules. I just wish they could've slapped a muzzle on that barking irritating wife of his.Edwcdc said:

You guys have to understand something. The US depends on Mexico to send them the felons that escapes to that country, and they do a pretty good job of doing that. This was just the US recipracating.

ETA: Look at the 2002 case "[U.S. v. Truong]". A federal court "held that the President did have inherent authority to conduct warrantless searches to obtain foreign intelligence information." The court's decision went on to say: "We take for granted that the President does have that authority and, assuming that is so, FISA could not encroach on the President's constitutional power."
