Dominic Aitchison from Mogwai!

Been listening to a lot of my local Glasgow band Mogwai at the moment and love the sound the bass player gets! Anyone know how he does it? I know he`s playing chords but where can I find out info on what he`s doing or what effects he uses? Tried searching on the net but to no avail! Any help will be gracefully recieved!

Dominic is one of the main reasons I took up bass. I saw them live and he (and the other players, including Stuart I think) swapped between a Ric and a P-bass (maybe a Jazz too) several times. I didn't get a look as his pedalboard and have no idea what effects he's using. Just from the sound, I'd guess a light overdrive/distortion in some parts, and a big hairy fuzz at other times.

one of the most underrated bassists around and one of my favorites. some of the coolest bass lines ever. i think he uses a danelectro fab distortion along with some other stuff. i know i've seen his pedalboard floating around here before

I saw them last night and was blown away by his bass tone. Can anyone recognize what kind of bass this is?

i'm jelouse... i couldn't get coverage at work, and it was sold out. glad it was a good show!

+1 on the electric guitar company bass. Jonathan Nuñez
of Torche uses one, as did the guitarists in ISIS and The Melvins. Steve Albini and Bob Weston of Shellac both use aluminum guitars (Kramers). Local (to Denver) band Accordian Crimes' guitarist Bryon Parker uses an aluminium neck guitar.
