Double Bass Don't know what I have

First time poster. Any insight is appreciated.

Purchased this bass second-hand a couple years back. It isn't getting enough love in my home, so I'm looking to trade it. I purchased it for 1600 and would like to verify it's value so that I have a foundation to bargain from. The problem is that I cannot identify it online going off of the label on the inside (photo included). It reads:

W.M. Kess
Size: 3/4
Model: DB100
Anno: 2003

I can't find any relevant results searching on any variation of "W.M. Kess" or "DB100 2003". I honestly have no idea what I'm looking at, so I'm hesitant to make any assumptions about the material of the body/neck. I don't think it's particularly high-end, I just want to be in a position where I know what I'm trading.

Looks like a Chinese plywood bass with a painted fingerboard to me.

I am no expert but I agree with Ross in saying that it looks like a pretty standard low end Chinese plywood bass. If this is the case, I don't know when you made the purchase but at $1,600 you overpaid for it. As for current value, the market is pretty bad right now for sales. What you can get from it depends partly on where you are at but even if there is a high demand for uprights where you are at, it is likely that you won't get back what you paid.

Also, just a side note... that is a strange combination of strings.... looks like helicore pizz with an obligato A? Did you put those on there or did you get it that way.

you'd probably do better on Craigslist (just be honest about everything). A music shop is going to give you peanuts.
