Don't take this the wrong way, but... thanks!

Several times in the past few weeks I've seen the subject come up in these forums about the ridiculous selling prices people are seeing on used gear recently. Since Covid hit, I've been reevaluating my life, and my possessions specifically. I spent years in musical instrument retail sales, lived a comfortable life, and enabled my G.A.S.
I will keep playing music and owning instruments, but things had gotten out of control. I owned six bass guitars, three acoustic guitars, two electric guitars, two keyboards and tons of percussion and recording gear. Once I heard about the insane seller's market we're currently in, I started putting stuff on craigslist and holy moly, y'all were right! Hopefully I won't end up remorseful about getting rid of all this stuff, but there are definitely some folks out there with stimulus checks burning holes in their pockets...

I don't feel like I'm gouging people, I've been very selective about the gear I've purchased, and I take very good care of it. Folks are getting their money's worth, but I would have been at a different price point a year ago for most of it.

I’ve sold a few things, but my experience is not yours. The market seems sluggish to me. Most of the items I sold were listed for weeks, if not months, and lowballers were lurking. I had a Fender Blues Junior listed that took five months to sell. I had it at the top of the price range because it was 20 years old and mint, and I didn’t need the money. I still had to come down on the price to sell it.

I also sold a Peavey Tour 450 that I listed on FB based on asking prices here on TB. I didn’t get anywhere near that kind of $$ for it, and it took over a month to sell.
