Dorm Amp

re: Peavey Databass as a dorm amp- I have one, and I'm not happy with it as a gig amp (small venues). It lacks warmth, but I'm going to keep fiddling with the EQ, see what can be done. It would be a good practice amp because of it's small size, though. Pros: small footprint, tons of power (450w) Cons: heavy, not great sound, and the dirty pots can't be accessed for cleaning without cutting away the chassis sheet metal.
I'm hoping to talk a friend out of his rarely used Yorkville...

Have you considered hanging an Ampeg 810 from the ceiling?

I think youre on to something.

Take said 810, lie it on the floor, add sheets and quilt, pillow or two.

i'd love to put hang a 810 from the ceiling, however it is considered a fire hazard so no go.
