Double Bass Double Bass Size For 5'0 Guy?

Those are my general basic recommendations for price/quality but they are on the bigger side. My Chadwick is bigger than my old Romanian bass. This is a case where you will have to go around and try basses, I don't think a brand rec is going to do it. Smaller 3/4 are not tough to find.
There is a litany of reasons not to get a smaller bass. Unless you just absolutely can't make a normal 3/4 work. A big one is never being able to borrow a bass.

I'm looking to venture into the world of double bass, but I'm a short guy. I've seen a few posts about not getting a 1/2 size bass, but am unsure if that still applies due to my height. Should I opt for a 3/4 or a 1/2? Would a 5/8 be a good compromise?

If you want to come to the States, you are within distance of checking the Upton Bass Shop in Connecticut or The Cincinnati Bass Cellar. There is also a maker in Ithaca, Bob Spear, who makes basses especially designed for smaller players. They have narrow ribs and shorter string lengths.
