Double Czech - Jolana DiscoBass & Kolorbass -

What a load of drool stuff! Basses weren't dressed up like this, were they?

Edit: maybe I should build one. Now there's an idea.

'63 Burns of London Vista Sonic with 3 pu's was the max for a bass, and some Japanese 3 pu basses were made in the '60s.

Took the Art Kolorbas to another TSC's rehearsal tonight. Love it! Being a hollowbody (even if more semi-hollowbody due to internal bracing) - you really have to watch out for wolf-notes caused by feedback. My rehearsal rig is a Mesa M2000 650w FET/tube amp through a Carvin 18" cab. I can do/handle it, but it makes for some active participation! Just part of what you have to do to get that lovely acoustic tone. I found myself in the bridge pu only mode with just-off-full bass (tone). It has rich neck pu/both/blend tonal onions, but at least to my ears, the required bass/mid/articulation tone was there in spades at the bridge.

I love when you arrive at that sweet-spot, when presence, tone and feel rule. Can't think of anywhere else I'd rather be at as a musician in a band. It's where magic happens.

Realized I hadn't posted updated pics of the Discobas. I added a vintage bridge-cover a while back - not sure it's origin, but it was based on the Fender '51 P ashtray. Probably '60s Japanese.
