Double P 5 strings?

It would be interesting to know which of these Double Ps actually have the "neck" pickup in the "correct" position. Most of the examples shown look like the neck pickup is closer to the neck than an actual Precision.

I can definitely recommend the Sago. Here's a full view of that yellow Sago bass which happens to be mine. These have become some what popular. It helps that Mina is using this model for her East of Eden gig. I will add that Sago can make this model under their more affordable Stem line. (Stem is to Sago as E-II is to ESP). No five string yet though.

The specific bass I showed is being sold by a Shimamura store. Most Shimamura stores will ship internationally. You have to email shimamura via a form and they will get back to you.

Here’s the ad on digimart for that bass

You can also buy via a proxy service although this cost more since you would have to pay Japanese sales tax.

You could order one from Red House. I believe they will ship internationally since they have been displaying at NAMM the last couple of years. Send them an email to ask.

I’ve never experienced any two pickup configurations with one or two p pups sound exactly like a single p with lots of mid grunt. Being closer to the neck gives a big thick tone. I usually just run both pickups at full. Is it really a P, probably not, does it sound great in the mix? Absolutely. YMMV
