Double sharps?

How do I play double sharps? They appear in Simandl but no explanation is given.

Double-sharps are just what they seem to be - two sharps. So if a sharp is a half-step (one fret) up, then a double-sharp is two half-steps (two frets) up.

If you are talking notes, double sharp is you move up 2 half steps instead of one for a single sharp

Assume a double sharped note is the same as the note without any sharps, a whole step up. So, for example, a Cx (C double sharp) would be played as D.
